Matt 28:42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

The submission to go back a second time, after the first time made Christ feel dead inside, is truly great. He expresses His own personal will, yet right behind that desire he affirmatively expresses His willingness to submit. So often we are told to be defiant and live life on our own terms in the way that is most pleasing and easy for us. Out of all the people on Earth who might have ‘deserved’ that way of living, it should have been Christ. But here He was. Submitting. He knew of His obligation and did not shrink before the fight. It was hard, and He had to work for it with a determination like no other.
