Matt 28:39  “And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."

The true act of praying is when the will of the child is brought into alignment with the will of the Father. Christ, does this perfectly. He does not hide his feelings, instead He gives them to His Father. How could Christ say “as thou wilt” and truly mean it? Although the pain was unimaginable, I believe He had an eternal perspective. He knew that for us to succeed, He had to complete his mission. Christ could have had the opinion that as the firstborn of the Father, it was His right to abstain from drinking the cup of gall, but instead He knew as the firstborn it was His responsibility to save and redeem us. Only He could.
