I believe that God sends storms to mirror our grief on occasion. I know he did when His only Begotten Son was rejected, tortured and crucified.

The pain that comes with death can be numbing, overwhelming, and incessant. A constant ebb that slowly takes away all joy and peace. Yet Christ, the Prince of Peace, faced death and brought back that joy and that peace.

Grief still stands, but instead of experiencing only sadness or only joy, Christ made it possible for us to have both. Sadness and joy. Peace and grief. They can coexist because of Him.

Cypress trees have symbolized death, yet because of Christ’s sacrifice, they can mean more. Death has no victory. It is not lasting or enduring. Joy can come in the morning of resurrection, because Christ rose again.
